The Meek

Day 7 | The Meek / 1 Peter 3:13-17

"Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God's will, than for doing evil." - 1 Peter 3:13-17 ESV

Day 6 | The Meek \ Zeph. 3:11-13

"He leads the humble in what is right,

    and teaches the humble his way.

All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness,

    for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies." - Psalms 25:9-10 ESV

"Pride goes before destruction,

    and a haughty spirit before a fall.

It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor

    than to divide the spoil with the proud." - Proverbs 16:18-19 ESV

“On that day you shall not be put to shame

    because of the deeds by which you have rebelled against me;

for then I will remove from your midst

    your proudly exultant ones,

and you shall no longer be haughty

    in my holy mountain.

But I will leave in your midst

    a people humble and lowly.

They shall seek refuge in the name of the Lord,

those who are left in Israel;

they shall do no injustice

    and speak no lies,

nor shall there be found in their mouth

    a deceitful tongue.

For they shall graze and lie down,

    and none shall make them afraid.” - Zephaniah 3:11-13 ESV

Day 4 | The Meek \ Jeremiah 39:9-10

“Then Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, carried into exile to Babylon the rest of the people who were left in the city, those who had deserted to him, and the people who remained. Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, left in the land of Judah some of the poor people who owned nothing, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.” - Jeremiah 39:9-10 ESV

“I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries and bring you into your own land. I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.” - Ezekiel 36:24-27 ESV

Day 2 | The Meek \ James 3:13-18

"Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace." - James 3:13-18 ESV

Day 1 | The Meek / Ps. 37

Psalms 37 (English Standard Version):

1 Fret not yourself because of evildoers;

    be not envious of wrongdoers!

2 For they will soon fade like the grass

    and wither like the green herb.

3 Trust in the Lord, and do good;

    dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.

10 In just a little while, the wicked will be no more;

    though you look carefully at his place, he will not be there.

11 But the meek shall inherit the land

    and delight themselves in abundant peace.

21 The wicked borrows but does not pay back,

    but the righteous is generous and gives;

22 for those blessed by the Lord shall inherit the land,

    but those cursed by him shall be cut off.

27 Turn away from evil and do good;

    so shall you dwell forever.

28 For the Lord loves justice;

    he will not forsake his saints.

They are preserved forever,

    but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.

29 The righteous shall inherit the land

    and dwell upon it forever.

39 The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord;

    he is their stronghold in the time of trouble.

40 The Lord helps them and delivers them;

    he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,

    because they take refuge in him.
